Roomba 570 Review

The Roomba 570 from iRobot is a floor cleaning robot that is able to navigate through homes on its own and can even clean in typically hard to reach places. This is a high powered model that can cover four average sized rooms on just one battery charge. It is very easy to use and all that the owner has to do is push the “Clean” button and the Roomba 570 will do the rest.

The 570 model of Roomba can be used on carpets, rugs, throw rugs and hard surfaces, such as hardwood floors. It will clean up just about anything, such as fit, hair from bets, debris, dust and sand. It is great for those with allergies since it also can capture dust and pollen in the filter.

What the Roomba 570 Can Do

The Roomba 570 vacuum cleaning robot is capable of doing many things, some of which is possible only because of certain advanced features. The main thing that the Roomba does is that it automatically moves around rooms and vacuums the floors. Up to four average rooms can be cleaned with one battery charge and the Roomba 570 also has the technology to let it clean edges and corners. Since the vacuum cleaning robot can clean carpets and hard surfaces, it is also able to detect a change of surface and respond in an appropriate way.

The Roomba 570 has a counter rotating bristle brush and a beater brush that act just as a broom and dustpan would. The robot cleaner can vacuum up dirt, pet hair, allergens, dust and even small pieces of debris into the bin. The bin is bag-less and therefore no vacuum bags are needed. The brushes are now made to be sturdier and faster which enables the Roomba 570 to deep clean carpets and pick up the most from hard surfaces.

In order to keep the Roomba 570 out of certain areas the two Virtual Wall Lighthouses have to be set up. These lighthouses ensure that the Roomba vacuum cleaning robot will stay in one room until it is sufficiently clean and only then allow it to move into the next room. The Roomba 570 can also be used to vacuum areas that are near ledges or staircases since it has built-in sensors that can detect such drop-offs and if detected, then the vacuum robot will stay away from that danger zone.

Specifications of the Model

On top of the many standard features, the Roomba 570 also has many other advanced features that make it effective, convenient and easy to use. The anti-tangle technology helps to keep the Roomba from getting stuck on things like carpet fringes and power cords, while the Spot Clean feature indicates to the device that a spot is particularly dirty and as a result the vacuum robot will quickly clean up the mess and spend more time cleaning up the area.

Unlike other models of vacuum cleaning robots, the Roomba 570 can be controlled. This is done through the Wireless Command Center which allows the owner to steer and control the robot from as far away as across the room. When done with a cleaning routine, the Roomba 570 will go back to the self-charging Home Base. There it will dock in between the cleanings and recharge its batteries. Up to seven different cleaning times can also be scheduled each week so the Roomba 570 can also work whenever you want it to.

With this model of the Roomba vacuum cleaning robots there is an extra filter, replacement bristle brush and beater brush. There is also a side brush which is what actually reaches edges and corners. The filter picks up and traps allergens and dust while the larger bin can hold more debris.

562 vs 570

I just spoke to the Iroomba people about the 570 vs the 562. The newest version of the 562 is not compatible with lighthouse technology (the "old" 562 was). The roomba rep told me that all the 500 series have now been changed to include the "pet friendly" elements of the 562. As such, the 570 is essentially a 562 without the optional large bin and with lighthouses. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks!

Beware of Hemmacher Schemmler Roomba 570 web ad

If you google 'roomba 570' you'll see the HS sponsored ad near the top of the page under Roomba 570, if you click on the link you'll go to the HS sales article on the

'The Seven Day Scheduling Robotic Vacuum'

with no further mention of the model no.  only that it sells for $369.95  but what they are selling you is the Roomba 563 which does not come with the lighthouses and does not work with them, although they are advertised as such (you get Virtual Walls instead which works differently.)  Also the latest version of the 570 has important improvements (seals) to the gearbox and brush spindle which the earlier 570 models lacked and caused major problems (see YouTube videos on this) I don't know if the 563 being sold by HS has these improvements or not, I wouldn't buy one without knowing for sure that they do, also the lighthouses can be important from what I've been reading as opposed to Virtual Walls.  Bottomline: HS is being negligent in advertising what they are selling, it can be called sales deception...their 'lifetime warranty' is no good if you end up with the wrong product.  Fortunately I was cautious enough to ask.

Anyone know of a good source for the Roomba 570?
