Scooba 330 Review
The iRobot Scooba 330 is the most basic version of this series of floor washing robots. Although this particular version is not one of the premium models, this Scooba is still more than capable of effectively cleaning various kinds of hard surfaced flooring, such as tile, hardwood with sealing and linoleum.
The Scooba floor washing robot is designed to automatically navigate through a room and ensure that each part of the surface is cleaned about four times.
Included with the Scooba 330 is a power supply unit which charges the standard Scooba battery used by this device. Once fully recharged, the Scooba robot will be able to clean roughly 250 square feet of surface area before running out of power. The battery is a rechargeable one and the charger comes with the Scooba 330 so it is not required to constantly purchase batteries.
The washing of a room’s floors is thoroughly done by the Scooba 330 floor washing robot. The cleaner is able to get into many hard to reach areas, such as the table edges or beneath cabinet edges. This model can even be used in rooms with other surfaces since it is able to sense when the surface changes into a carpet or run.
The Cleaning Process
The Scooba 330 floor washing robot cleans the floor surfaces by going through a four step process. Each stage of the process is unique and serves the greater purposes of ensuring that floors are clean and practically free from commonly found household bacteria. With the clean solution that is used in the Scooba 330 floor washing robot it is possible to actually get rid of up to 98% of normal household bacteria. According to tests done with this model, it is even possible to remove stronger bacteria, such as E. coli and Staphylococcus, if the Scooba cleans a surface twice.
The four stages of the cleaning process are preparation, washing, scrubbing and drying. During the prep stage the Scooba 330 will go around the room sweeping and picking up dirt, dust and whatever small debris it finds. Once that is done the wash stage is started and then the Scooba will clean all floor surfaces with the clean solution. After the washing, the scrubbing stage starts and then the brushes attached to the Scooba are used to remove messes on the floor. The final step is to dry the surfaces that were washed. For this there is the integrated squeegee which picks up all the leftover dirty water remaining on the floor surfaces.
Other Useful Features
In order to keep the automatically moving Scooba 330 floor washing robot out of areas that are considered to be off limit, there is a virtual wall unit included with the purchase of the floor washing robot. The virtual wall creates a barrier that acts as a fence which keeps the robot out, but of course for that to work it will need working D batteries.
The Scooba 330 also has Cliff Sensing technology. This allows the floor washer robot to recognize areas that are dangerous, such as ledges and stairs and thus preventing the robot from damaging itself by falling. The tank of this Scooba model is also large enough that up to 250 sq. ft. can be washed before a refill is necessary, which makes it convenient to use. Refilling the Scooba 330 tank is also easy to do, but it is important to only use a clean solution. A clean solution, like the fresh scented Clorox Scooba Cleaning Solution, can be purchased or it can be made using a mixture of water and vinegar
