Scooba 380 Review

The Scooba 380 from iRobot is an easy to use floor washing robot. This model is not just a top selling one, but it is also top of the line with its advanced features.

With this model of the Scooba line of floor washers you will be able to clean approximately four averagely sized rooms on just one battery charge. This is equivalent to about 850 sq. ft. of floor area. The Scooba 380 works by cleaning floors with a so-called clean solution that is worked onto the floors during the four step cleaning process. This leaves floors not only clean and free of any dirt, but also removes much of the bacteria usually found on floors. The Scooba 380 can be used to clean many types of flooring, including tiles, linoleum or sealed hardwood.  One of the best qualities of this automated floor washer is that it is even capable of cleaning up spots that are usually hard to reach and it automatically senses where objects it has to avoid are, which include rugs, area rugs and staircases.

Advantages of Using the Scooba 380 Floor Washing Robot

There are many good reasons to purchase the Scooba 380. For one it works on its own and does not need any help navigating through the rooms it is supposed to clean. Since the Scooba floor washing robot does the cleaning, it is no longer necessary to do the mopping and that leaves more free time to do other things. Not only does the Scooba 380 clean the floors, but it does so thoroughly. This model is capable of cleaning so that up to 98% of bacteria that are commonly found in households are removed.  On top of all that this device is easy to use and all you have to do is recharge the battery when necessary and start it by simply pushing a single button.
You can also make your own cleaning solution for the Scooba 380 to use or purchase a specially made one, the Clorox Scooba Cleaning solution. If you want to make your own you can mix clean water, such filtered tap water or purchased water, with vinegar and that can be used to clean the floors with.

Features of the Floor Washing Robot

The iRobot Scooba 380 floor washer robot has standard features that the line of products has, but also many additional features that set it apart from the other Scooba models. The standard features of this Scooba robot are the four cleaning steps that it can perform. Floors are cleaned in a four stage process and it starts off by prepping the floor by picking up any dirt it finds, such as crumbs. The second stage is the washing with any kind of clean solution and when that is done the scrubbing stage is started. This is done with a built in brush that enables the Scooba 380 to remove harder dirt problems, such as sticky messes or grimy spots. Finally the Scooba will dry the floors with the squeegee. Other features of the Scooba 380 include the Cliff Sensing technology, tank size and virtual walls. The tank of this model is large enough that it can clean roughly 420 sq. ft. of floor before you will have to refill it with clean water. The Cliff sensors are there to prevent the floor washing robot from going to places it shouldn’t, such as stairs. This means that it will not have any accidents and therefore not be damaged. The virtual walls allow you to set up areas that the Scooba should not clean. They work by emitting infrared beams that are picked up by the robot and those then those act similar to fences which keep the Scooba 380 out of these off limit places.

MY SCOOBA 385 LEAVES WATER MARKS / WHEEL MARKS ON FLOORS

Hello, I am new to this forum. I just bought a scooba 385 (european version) but I have noticed that it leaves watermarks / wheel marks on the floor after it cleans. I know the floors are clean, but they look ugly. Can anyone help me. Thanks

Cement Floors & Grooves in the Floor

Is anyone familiar with how this model performs on sealed cement floors that are smooth or relatively smooth? My floor has channels every 2 feet that are 3/16" deep and wide. Do you think these will cause a problem with this model of Scooba? Thanks in advance.

Scooba

My Scooba quit dispensing cleanser and sucking it up. Can someone tell me why?

Scooba

Is there somewhere you can trade up, like a car?

my new scooba sings then 4 beeps

I just purchased my 2nd scooba but after one use it will not charge. It just sings and then has 4 beeps and the red service light comes on. Can someone help please

yea

i also encountered that, and it may be clean but it's difficult to watch when it leaves the room with wheel marks on my flooring. it's totally helpful, and great with carpeted rooms, which you can't see the marks, also with tiles and linoleum.. but not great on parquet floorings in which the marks are very visible.. thanks!

Scooba 380

I am on my 3rd Scooba 380, first one was a lemon, 2nd one stopped sucking up the dirty water. Thank God I purchased from Hammacher Schlemmer, they have a life time warrantee, no questions asked, and they pay the shipping charge back to the store, provided you saved the return prepaid shipping address, and you have to send a note as to if you want a replacement, or your money back. The one thing I noticed with this one is the battery only lasted a little over an hour, where as #2's battery went for 3hrs 45 min. Looks just like the last one.

Waiting for a revised version...

My scooba 3xx was a short-lived experiment in frustration. It frequently got stuck or gave up before drying the floor. Any and all debris (hair, dirt, cat litter) would enter the mechanism and gum it up, which meant we needed to clean the floor before cleaning the floor. Within a year, the scooba gave up on suction. Ultimately, the scooba finally fully died just out of warranty. Unfortunately, the only noticable change after running the scooba was wet socks. It didn't scrub hard enough to get dirt out of the tiny cracks in the floor. The little container has about a quarter as much liquid as you would go through properly mopping. And it seems even more prone to giving up than a roomba proper, despite not having to climb over rugs and wires and things. Personally, I'm waiting for the next generation of floor washer before going back in.
