Floss jammed in gear
During a routine cleaning of my neato I discovered there is a large wad of floss wrapped around the metallic gears that drive the beater bar. I need advice on what to do. Should I try to disassemble the robot to get to those gears or go ahead and try cutting the floss the way it is? Any help would b...

Re: neato HEPA filter DIY mod v1
I imagine its use was intended for those that forgot to replace the filter after cleaning the cartridge.
Sure the fan would suck up some dirt that doesn't belong there, but it's not nearly as bad as the robot continuing on its run and sucking up all sorts of debris into its fan.

Re: neato HEPA filter DIY mod v1
Very nice indeed, also an interesting discovery on the air flow limitation programming. However, I believe this feature may have been included with a later firmware update, I happen to recall someone mentioning months ago that XV-11 doesn't have a feature to detect when the filter is off (only when ...

Re: Neato Upgraded - initial feedback ...
It can often overlap by 25-45% of the previous lap. I do wish these sorts of items could be user configurable ... I have hard wood floors so i prefer quicker cleans but have the neato run more often. It's something I can honestly say I only observed on carpet, I question if its simply because it lo...

Re: Neato Upgraded - initial feedback ...
Neato appears to overlap more than it did with my previous firmware (1.1). This is especially true after he has surveyed the perimeter and is "filling in the square".

Re: Neato Upgraded - initial feedback ...
The new version of neato has worked pretty well so far, compared to my older 1.1 (or 1.2) version of neato it seems alot more aggressive and is willing to drive much faster in many circumstances. Docking behavior seems to have improved significantly, along with its navigation to the dock. Neato used...

Re: Neato Upgraded - initial feedback ...
I will be updating from 1.1 version of Neato. (So I am guessing its going to be a fairly large leap)
Neato has been working well for me for over a month now and in some ways I am slightly worried that the upgrade will actually end up with it working less effectively or failing to dock.

Re: Charging Base Question - 2 Floor Townhouse
Have to agree that it is alittle far fetched. I don't own a roomba, but isn't the neato louder?
The only benefit I could see is that the neato is unlikely to run into the dog

Re: Raising furniture to clear XV-11
You can actually purchase these "bed risers" to raise a bed if you were really concerned.
I had no clue there was such a thing until my girlfriend went out and bought them because she felt the bed was too low LOL.

Re: Neato inadequate for pet hair pickup
Yeah that's what I would say, Neato is great on hard floors. The only issue is picking up "ingrained" hair on carpets or rugs that are more plush (medium or higher). I have found that simply running Neato more often (once a day) results in less of this problem because the hair that drops h...

Re: Neato inadequate for pet hair pickup
True, but people use vacuums with brush-like beater bars on hard floors all the time without damage.
Non-the-less, people could always resort back to the standard plastic.

Re: Amusing Docking Anomaly!!
I wonder what happens when you have multiple neatos in a room, with only one dock station :o Actually it would be better asked that if neato is programmed to allow for moving docking stations, what prevents it from competing with another neato for the same dock. Does it realize that station is inacc...

Re: Random Neato thoughts
Just noticed a secondary laser on the right side of the xv-11's bumper, is this to keep distances from a wall when going around a room's perimeter? I'm just guessing, mainly because I have noticed xv-11 prefers to go around perimeters with the right side of the bumper nearest the wall. Anyone else h...

Re: Recommendations for the future Neato
firelog: The upcoming update will only have the features previously discussed by user "Neato" in a separate thread. That version of the firmware is the one that came with my (new) unit. None of the items I or other users have recommended will be in that release. That's a shame, after read...

Re: Recommendations for the future Neato
I read some of your suggestions from another thread, and you're certainly right. Occasionally I just want Neato to do one bedroom or the master bedroom, and that's it (starting neato away from dock). However, the "single pass" philosophy (which is good in almost all applications) along wit...
