Re: Neato Botvac

I always use the remotes for my robots. I cannot understand why people would prefer to get up and manually control the robot. So if you are in your house while using a robot, what's the point? unless you're handicapped, I'm sorry if it's the case. You have no time at all? please... Seriously, hand ...

Re: Neato Botvac

For example my iclebo is based in the kitchen. With 3 children and several meals a day the floor needs frequent cleaning (being a mapping robot this only takes 15mins each time). The robot is parked in a far corner out of the way. Were it not for the remote it would not get as many outings as it cur...

Re: Neato Botvac

That kind of carpet is a nightmare for most robots. In my range only the karcher would be able to cope well I think. The side brush on the vr100 also made the robot less happy on deep pile carpets than the standard xv series. Especially with the downward push of side brush. I would expect the new bo...

Re: Neato Botvac

I can tell you fact that the side brush on the vr100 leaves edges spotless. So not useless.

Re: Neato Botvac

Deja vu again guys. Hope neat doesn't milk the different colours and filter brush combinations for the next few years as they did the first time round.

Re: Neato Botvac

From observing the videos the behaviour is pretty much the same as a 3.1 device. 3.2 reverses more and to the left to prevent reverse climbing. It seems drive very close to the edges. I think the turret focus is slightly higher hence it leaving a gap under your kitchen units. It seems to be using yo...

Re: Neato Botvac

Very interesting how the colour scheme is very very similar to the vr100. In fact, the pure white scheme was always avoided in the past I thought for the very same reason. Now with the introduction of the side brush and the new colours. I wonder if some sort of exclusive contractual obligation had p...

Re: Neato Botvac

The wall closeness issue is important on carpet. The side brush works only on hard floors, and may fit with the wider wall clearance used in the software. The side brush does not compensate for this on carpets, and the wider clearance is less effective cleaning. Or, with the closer fitting brush, a...

Re: Neato Botvac

3kgt thank you very much for all the photos. They have been very comprehensive and useful. Looks like a great bot to me. Personally I've always preferred the beater bar on carpet and the helix on hard floors. The side brush is definitely not a gimmick on hard floors of the edge hugging issue is reso...

Re: Neato Botvac

Side brush is very similar to the one on vr100. Does not need to be large to be effective. In fact it works a lot better than the bigger brushes on my other robots. Very impressed with the main brush and inlet reaching the edge of the robot. I'm hoping the edge hugging issue is a temporary one as it...

Re: Neato Botvac

Unfortunately in the UK we just pay more for everything. Partly because of a smaller market and less competition.

Re: Neato Botvac

Still a good deal cheaper than a vorwerk which retails at £649. ($1079)

Re: Neato Botvac

It is interesting why neato chose this methodology which seems contrary to practically everyone else in the industry both inside and outside robotic vacuums. For example, if my mobile phone would shutdown prematurely or any other battery powered device for that matter I would be extremely unhappy. W...

Re: Neato Botvac

Neato robots do not fully charge for second and third runs. So if your first run is 60 mins your second and third typically give you less. So not 60x3 I'm afraid. I suspect that if you had one of the custom made hi capacity packs, due to them not being fully depleted on first run you may get better ...

Re: neato signature pro vs vorwex vr 100

Bits reported by members with Vorwerk's amount to this: (1) runs the front brush 25 per cent faster (2) side brush ([edit] none of which are not effective on carpet} (3) same Pet filter and Brush -- later released by Neato for their models after original for Vorwerk (4) LIthium Ion Battery with few...

Re: Neato Botvac

I'll be very interested to see what improvements have been made to the air pathway from the brush - I've always found a small amount of debris accumulates in my XV-11 due to the vertical throat design. That was improved on the vorwerk very simply by flattening the intake slightly to remove the litt...

Re: Neato Botvac

All I can say is wow! At last an update that isn't just cosmetic. QNX is interesting, by using a more evolved os the firm can concentrate more on functionality of the code rather than building the entire eco system from scratch as in the past on a skeletal linux disto. In effect it is much simpler t...

Mine only comes on after the unit is so full that the dustbin vacuum is ineffective. Has happened a few times as I do not regularly check.

Re: new xv-12

Karcher Pros. Really quiet; small and gets into areas others cannot; well made and solid; self emptying is great; doesn't care about moving chairs etc as it is non mapping; minimal robot proofing needed; very light touch on furniture regardless of colour; possible to leave running permanently! Cons....
