Neato Battery Replacement - Extended Run & Problem Solver?
Folks, short run times plus a range of problems has led me to consider getting a battery replacement for Neato XV. With Vic's inputs, I searched Amazon and the 3 options below looks interesting. Most intriguing is the Powerextra (item number 3 below). It has 4000mAh, higher than the others. Note, yo...

Re: Neato going in reverse and in circles
Thanks Vic. Will do as you suggested. What am I looking for? What commands should I execute? In your experience what is the offending sensor and how will I fix it?

Re: Neato going in reverse and in circles
Thanks Vic. The "moving-backwards-in-circles" issue is usually followed by the clear my path issue (not all the time but sometimes). I would get a clear my path error, so I press resume, then it would move backwards in circles. :(. What I do is repeatedly long press the power button until ...

Re: Neato going in reverse and in circles
I just want the Neato to run and complete 3 decent cycles without it having to intermittently run in circles or stop with a "clear my path" error. I'm not mechanically inclined to open it up. If the wall or cliff sensor are the probable culprits, what will happen if I cover them with tape?...

Re: Neato going in reverse and in circles
I have this problem too. It's intermittent. At times it would run without issues. There are times when in the middle of the run, it would start traveling backwards in circles. My workaround is to do a long press on the power button to reset the run. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Very ...

Re: Can´t upgrade my xv-21
I had problems upgrading but it was due to a faulty mini USB cable. Changed the cable and successfully upgraded my xv to 3.4 from 3.1. I was hoping that all the frustrating issues such as 'clear my path', moving rearwards in circles, etc will be solved by 3.4. The upgrade didn't fix any of these &qu...

John, thank you for a thorough review. I'm learning from what you wrote. Much appreciated. Pls continue to keep us posted on your experiences with the good and bad of the xv and botvac. Thanks again.

Re: Firmware 3.4
The fix to virtually all my XV issues was to buy a botvac. Night and day across the board. Is botvac any better? Seems like it has same issues as xv plus more like the sweeper bearings. It's troubling that Neato can't get their software fixes and QA on acceptable levels. Hardware of the xv however ...

Re: Firmware 3.4
Thanks. It was a bad mini USB cable. Changed it and upgrade to 3.4 is done. I don't see any improvement though with 3.4. Battery life is no better than 3.1. Also the bot in 3.1 and 3.4 have this issue of moving backwards and requires repeated power reset to get it to resume normal ops. And the dread...

Re: Firmware 3.4
I was able to register and was guided to the upgrade procedure page. Hooked up an old mini USB cable to the bot and my MacBook Pro. Pressed the bot's button. But I didn't see any sign that the MacBook recognized the bot. Proceeded to click upgrade then an error page came out - something about the li...

Re: Reset battery for Clear My Path error
As rstark said, it will work for a while and it will go back to its intermittent annoying habit of running and stopping with the error msg "clear my path".

Re: Battery improved - Max discharge
How about just running Neato until it stops. Don't dock it. Just let it drain itself to full discharge for a day. Then dock and charge it up. It simulates reconditioning the "lazy" way

Battery improved - Max discharge
The poor mans way. Accidentally left Neato for several days undocked. Battery fully discharged. Re-docked for 10 hours and it seems to run longer. Is this a fluke?
