Re: 780 bumper and IR array sensors fail BITs
factory-test 2 bumpers (and (not (bump-left?)) (not (bump-right?))) FAIL As soon as you enter test 2 computer says above. If you then press bumper —> no change in leds or text It says above for test 2 with dock/spot off. For other tests, dock/spot leds work fine. If off dock and press clean all leds...

Re: 780 bumper and IR array sensors fail BITs
Thanks for response and help !
In test 2 both Dock and spot light are always off.
They never turn on in test 2.
If I don’t press the bumpers —> off

Re: 780 bumper and IR array sensors fail BITs
Many thanks
I did do the BITs and it fails here
factory-test 2 bumpers
(and (not (bump-left?)) (not (bump-right?))) FAIL
How can you tell which one is stuffed? Don’t seem to be able to test them individually?

Re: 780 bumper and IR array sensors fail BITs
I installed the motherboard into a known working unit and it failed the bumper test so looks like it is a board problem. What bad luck !!! No visible board damage.

780 bumper and IR array sensors fail BITs
Hi Guys I've got a 780 which is experiencing the circle dance issue. I plugged in my laptop and the failure was seen: factory-test 2 bumpers (and (not (bump-left?)) (not (bump-right?))) FAIL What was also strange was that it failed factory-test 6 lt-bumper-side factory-test 7 lt-bumper-front factory...

Re: Roomba 980 water damage
Took some more measurements. 1) Measurements for a working IR led * with bot not awake --> voltage across led = 0.68V (cannot see led ON with camera) * with bot awake (press clean button to wake it) --> voltage across led = 0.76V and you can see the led ON with camera. 2) Measurements for a NOT work...

Re: Roomba 980 water damage
Thanks RTC, tested all IR leds as you suggested. Forward voltage drop on all 3 were approx same (i.e 0.993 V), which matches a spare I have.....so I assume this leads me back to the 980 motherboard
At this stage I am assuming the motherboard is not putting out the supply....anymore tips?

Re: Roomba 980 water damage
Thanks ps0001 I found out myself that a 780 bumper IR array will not fit in the 980  The 980 has an extra IR pair on the left side. So I am trying to fix the 980 bumper IR array, as I have some spare led pairs. Of the 7 IR pairs, 3 pairs fail the BITs. Using my phone camera, I can see tha...

Roomba 980 water damage
Hi Everyone took a punt and picked up a 2nd hand 980. I assume the unit sucked up water as the bin motor is not in good shape. The motherboard looks ok. I ran the BIT's - it only fails some of the 5,6,7,8 bumper tests (some sides are ok). There is some sign of water damage to the bumper IR leds. Que...

Re: 895: WiFi & vacuum motor issue (BIT 18)
I'd go the 9V battery option first.
Sort of similar problem here with a 780

I dont have a 895, but how to the bin contacts look on the robot?

You sure its not the bin motor? Put a 9v battery on the bin terminals...does it run ok?

Re: 770 Suction
Im not a fan of the 2 small hepa filters on the 7xx. I prefer the 6xx bin. I reckon the hepa filters restrict air flow too much. Hence on this forum people have been trying to hack the filter to improve suck.

Cliff sensors work on table but not on carpet stairs
Hi Guys I have a 780. If i put the roomba on a table it works perfectly, never falling off. BITs pass as well. However i have a white carpet section which has the same carpet for stairs and the roomba drives straight off from the white carpet and down the stairs! My 630 handles it ok. I see that fac...

Re: Roomba 790 screeching/squeeling noise
I've never taken the motor apart and successfully put it back together...other may have. You could spray some electrical contact cleaner through holes and give it a clean out....a very drop of oil on the shaft.

Re: Roomba 790 screeching/squeeling noise
You can put a 9V battery (the one in your smoke detector) on those terminals and run the motor. To remove the motor you must first remove the black spinning impellar. Once removed, it will reveal 2 small screws and motor will pop out. However be careful removing impellar, in my experience it is not ...
