Re: Botvac D85 damaged my furniture, mod to protect?

I removed the front bumper of my D85 and placed (using very thin double faced tape) a strip of thin felt. I'm guessing anything soft and thin like cotton with a little bit of softness and durability would work. Here is a picture of the mod: IMG_20181231_161629061.jpg IMG_20181231_161609783.jpg Has b...

Re: Neato ESP8266 Remote control (www.neatoscheduler.com)

Is this project still alive? The website is working and I have established an account, but I am not sure of the exact components to purchase. I found these: USB interface: https://www.ebay.com/itm/FT232RL-FTDI-USB-3-3V-5-5V-to-TTL-Serial-Adapter-Module-for-Arduino-Mini-Port/222721031019?epid=1983299...

Re: Neato's Declining Customer Service?

Did you happen to purchase from Bed Bath & Beyond or Costco? If so, you may want to return the broken bot to the retailer instead. When my BV85 first had the side brush failure. I had the same experience. Was not happy about having the bot out of service for close to a month and to have to pay e...

Re: POLL: How long has YOUR Neato lasted?

Botvac BV85. Side brush (belt) broke within 6-months. Self repaired due to Neato's horrible warranty procedure. Same unit lasted to the 7 month mark when the gearing inside the left drive wheel started slipping and the bot was doing doughnuts instead of cleaning. No self repair for that problem. Tha...

Re: Botvac Side Brush Drive Belt

The side brush runs most of the cleaning cycle. From observation it appears to be shut off by the bot when: 1. Vac motors are shut down when returning to base. 2. At certain points when the bot is navigating a tricky obstacle like a chair and needs to make multiple short movements. From my observati...

Re: Botvac Side Brush Drive Belt

Well it took me a while, but I finally sat down to install the new belt. Happy to report that the replacement I found on ebay works great so far. I have taken the time to make two videos of my effort, the first one shows the disassembly of the Botvac up to and including the removal of the side brush...

Re: D85 power options?

Curious additional observation for our Botvac 85 (non-D). We moved the base to an adjoining wall that is 90 degrees offset from the original location (to make room for the Christmas Tree), and I now observe that the Botvac has shifted its vacuum pattern 45 degrees for many rooms that previously were...

Re: Botvac Side Brush Drive Belt

I have not tried the replacement o-ring based belt yet. The smallest "belt" from the supplier I linked selling multi-packs is still working in the bot, and the slightly larger size is causing the brush to slip a lot on carpeting but not at all on the floor. I think this is a good thing bec...

Re: Botvac Side Brush Drive Belt

I did receive the replacement and matched it to the original. It looks spot on. However, my previous replacement which was thinner and a little larger is still in the bot so I haven't been so motivated to open it up yet again since it is working. I'm giving it a few more runs so that I can get an ac...

Re: Botvac Side Brush Drive Belt

Update: Well the rainbow loom rubber bands lasted 1 week, through 5 complete cycles. No big surprise there! The order from the supplier mentioned in my previous post came in and in the belt set there was one size that was small enough to try. It is installed and it is working but it is fractionally ...

Re: Botvac Side Brush Drive Belt

Thanks. That doesn't make sense in this instance and I'm not too keen on going through Neato's 3-week wait warranty exchange procedure, so I'm going to be trying parts I found from this supplier: http://www.ebay.com/itm/50pcs-Small-Fine-Pulley-Belt-Engine-Drive-Belts-for-DIY-Toys-Modle-Car-Module-US...

Botvac Side Brush Drive Belt

I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned already. Is there a source for replacement drive belts for the Botvac's side brush? The belt inside my unit (which resembles a small rubber band) snapped, most likely due to the brush getting caught and the brass motor spindle heating it up to the point ...
