Re: My quest for a cheap LCD for Neato XV!

I still need to see your work to diagnose the issue, especially the soldering.

Re: My quest for a cheap LCD for Neato XV!

The backlight should indeed turn off when the robot is off.

Please post a photo of your wiring, you may have connected the backlight to the wrong place.

Re: My quest for a cheap LCD for Neato XV!

GND to 21, 22, 23 and 24
VDD to 17, 18, 19 and 20

Everything else should be OK!

Re: My quest for a cheap LCD for Neato XV!

Hi Vit, I lifted the new LCD from it's backlight using only my finger nails, starting in a corner. The backlight panel is slightly flexible which makes it easier to separate the two. Just be patient and very gentle! Try to keep the two adhesive strips on the backlight so that the LCD can be stuck st...

Re: My quest for a cheap LCD for Neato XV!

Mine is still going strong! LCD.jpg It is the LCD itself that fails. The caps and resistor I added to my DIY interface board only replicate the circuit on the PCB to reduce the number of wires. The replacement LCD I used probably isn't the greatest quality (look at the two corners on the right) but ...

Re: How to clean Neato Ultra Performance filters?

I use this method, a normal high performance filter with a ladies foot sock as a pre-filter:

It does the same thing as the ultra filter but is much easier to clean! ;)

Re: My quest for a cheap LCD for Neato XV!

Well done for finding another source! Looks like they are identical to the EastRising ones I found (they probably ARE EastRising), but cost $19.99 each instead of $5.88!

Have you connected OSC1 to VDD? Your diagram shows it disconnected!

Re: My quest for a cheap LCD for Neato XV!

I've had some requests to list the SMT component values used on my board, so here they are!

The value of the original resistor was 330 Ohms but 1K works fine.

Re: My quest for a cheap LCD for Neato XV!

NOTE: in a previous post asedovski has mentioned that if you connect the lcd (with neato off-battery removed) you have to press the buttons in specific sequence in order to initialise lcd - is it right? No, his comment was about having the Neato switched ON while performing the work. I do not recom...

Re: Neato often does not return to base.

It sounds much more plausible that the Neato just hasn't "seen" the dock. It is merely returning to its starting position, which is just in front of where the dock is. Just starting from the dock isn't enough, it has to see it to get a proper fix on it. Bright sunlight can "dazzle&quo...

Re: how to test the side brush motor on Botvac models

I think it's a bug in Neato Control. My workaround on V3.3: 1. Tick "Brush" - the main brush will start, speed is irrelevant. 2. Tick "Side Brush" - the main brush will stop and the side brush will start. 3. Untick "Brush" - should be no change in motor operation. 4. Un...

I'm also happy to report that the repair is holding up well. I've run several cleaning cycles from the dock and not one issue. Diagnostic readings are all as expected.

Re: Botvac D85 - Battery Issue 0010

Hi Brian, I suppose that if you could identify the flash chip and hook it up to a suitable reader then you might have a slim chance, but there's no guarantee it would work. Personally, I wouldn't want to risk it. Unfortunately, I don't think any user upgradeable firmware updates have ever been relea...

Re: Botvac D85 - Battery Issue 0010 - FIXED

I ordered some new chips from Mouser a few days ago and they were waiting for me when I got home today. I spent the evening fitting one and I'm pleased to report that this D85 is now a runner! :) U4 Replaced.JPG Ok, it's a bit of a mess but it's the first time I've attempted hot air rework at home w...
