Re: Robot Lawnmower Forum Topics

Thanks for the response! My advice would be to do it sooner rather than later, as, well, this is the season and all. People are going to be getting these things and will want to talk about them. I, in fact, just got one myself, so I had somewhat of a selfish motivation. :D

Thanks!

Robot Lawnmower Forum Topics

Since the name change, I think the site has a great opportunity to become less Roomba-centric and more generically Robot-centric. For that reason, would you consider adding forum topics for owners of Lawnbotts, Robomowers, and other products? The reason I ask is that the only place right now that I ...

Re: Anyone got a Robot Lawnmower?

Well, I'm back, and revisiting this thread because I just purchased a Lawnbott. From the dates on this thread, you can see this was three years in the making: plenty of time for iRobot to get its act together and release something if it was going to, IMHO. My riding mower died last summer and I spen...

Very possible. It only takes 1 weak cell to mess up a whole battery pack. It's even possible, although not probable, that you could get a cell reversal on your first usage if 1 cell was weak enough. Hmm... I've had the replacement battery installed for a couple of weeks now, so it's definitely had ...

EBay Battery Experiences

I've recently hit the 1 year mark as a Roomba owner (yay!), and right on time, the battery began to conk out. Not wanting to spend overly much on a new battery (they're $70 on iRobot's store), I decided I'd try buying one of the battery kits that are available on Ebay. It came with a triangle screwd...

The Cleanmate will run fine on your hard floors. It will not run well and may possibly not even be able to climb up on your carpets. It performs very poorly on carpets. Get the Roomba. It's not worth messing with the Cleanmate unless you want the UV disinfection feature. In my experience (I have 3 R...

I had the same problem with one of mine and called iRobot. They had me send it back for a replacement, as they said the charging circuit went bad. You should call them, especially if it's still under warranty--they'll replace it.

Nice video, Alice! Looks like your QQ-2 has a lot more energy than my QQ-1 (did they upgrade the battery?). I was going to warn you about trying yours on your upstairs carpet because mine simply can't handle carpets, but to see that video, maybe it will work for you. My wife's brother is currently l...

THX,

Has the QQ-2 review been canceled? If so, what's the upshot? Same cleaning ability as the QQ-1, with the added benefit of the dock? That's what I've been assuming, anyway...

A Big Trak!!

I had one of these too. Loved it. I started with the original, and then I got the add-on that gave it a cargo bay that could be "dumped."

Awesome toy, and way ahead of its time.

That's one wicked mower.... Whew! You got that right. I agree, though, the cost is (for me) prohibitive. I'd been hoping to go with the Robomower not only because it's less expensive than the Lawnbott, but also because it's advertised as big, heavy, rugged, and durable, while the Lawnbott is advert...

THX-1138, Yeah, I wanted to wait, and still may wait until next year. Something Mohawk said in this thread (I think it's on page 2) made me a bit concerned about their offering, though, as I've got almost an acre to mow, and it's not nice, cultivated grass. It's more like "green stuff that grow...

Ok, it's mid-April. You new robot mower owners had to have had a chance to try out your new toys!! How did it go? I haven't purchased one (yet), as the funds set aside for this went to some new furniture. Score is Wife: 1, Husband: 0. Still torn between the Robomower and the Lawnbott. T...

Unfortunately, the problem with switching to a ready made CMS is that the forum links would all change, so any links from search engines and older messages would no longer work, so that does make it a bit challenging to switch away from our current forum software. No Java is required in the browser. I'm talking about server-side Java. This is a common mistake people make when Java is mentioned, because of the awful experience people had many years ago with slow applets as well as the whole Sun/Microsoft battle. Most companies base their sites on Java technolo...

This would be a big job, but convert the site to portal software. Liferay Portal is an open source (java based) portal that includes all of the features you're trying to integrate into this site, but integrated in one piece of software! I'm getting the opportunity to work with this thing at work, an...

Mine seems to seek out a pull-toy my daughter has, and then swallow the string.

More than once I've come down in the morning to find Fred all tangled up in this toy with most of his battery left!

Definitely, a Roomba that can climb/clean stairs!

My stairs are the only carpet in the house now that doesn't get done regularly.
