Re: Kaylen. {560 with multiple issues}
Sorry to hear Kaylen is having issues, First things first, the 500 series robots are *really* easy to take apart. Most of the mechanical stuff is modular and it only require a couple Phillips head screws to take them out. iRobot really intended the 500 series to be very user serviceable (at least th...

Re: Just got iRobot to ship me a 5XX OSMO
So, here is what I based my line of questions on: http://homesupport.irobot.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1095 If you look at the row for the "Compact Auto Virtual Wall" it specifically states "All Models are compatible but the following will need a software upgrade : Models 510, 525, ...

Re: Newly Announced Scooba 230 and Roomba 700 Series
Wall follower is an IR emmiter detector pair. So by definition can be also be used for I/O. So I wonder what the OSMOs are going to look like? IR interfaces on laptops have mostly gone the way of the Dodo bird so I wonder if you will have to buy a iRobot IR dongle and then use software? Or I suppos...

Re: Upgrade to 570 or 580
Hey Richard, I think I talked with you a bit on the iRobot board regarding your posting. Having read your original posting in the "Low Battery Sensor?" thread: I bought the Wife ;) a new 550 for Christmas, At this point, since the Roomba is less than a month old, why not return it and buy ...

Re: Newly Announced Scooba 230 and Roomba 700 Series
That Li pack would be 2/3 the width of the battery shown above, while length and thickness would match. I don't work with Li-Po but is it possible there could there be a spacer between the two pairs in series to help with heat dissipation and distribution during the charging process? Would preserve...

Re: Scooba 5900 for repair
Hmmm... since it doesn't seem to come with a charger, the battery is no good, and the "check tank" light is already on I would say no unless you have another one or two already to swap parts with.

Canned air is your friend when cleaning above the deck. You could also try a set of long nosed needle nose pliers to grasp anything that is wrapped up.

Re: Newly Announced Scooba 230 and Roomba 700 Series
The big reason for me that the Scooba should have RF support as at least an option (So a 230 w/out RF and a 250 w/ RF) is because I already have lighthouses set up all over the condo for my 580. Since there is no manual way to turn on a lighthouse I have to duplicate hardware and function by having ...

Re: Roomba stops mid cleaning.
Well there is a long answer and a short answer unless there are other behaviors, lights or noises you haven't listed yet: Short Answer: What is probably happening is that the battery is failing under load but when at rest is returning to proper voltage. Think about a flashlight that is 99% dead, if ...

Re: Just got iRobot to ship me a 5XX OSMO
Glad to hear someone else had the same experience! I think we need to compare OSMOs to make sure we get the same, or at least similar, ones. I would hate to find out there was one OSMO that only took care of charging but another for the AVW compatibility.

Anecdotally Roomba and Scooba batteries are only good for about 12-24 months so since you said "older roomba" I would agree with mfortuna.

Re: Roomba Sage - Battery Issues / No sound
Sounds like as long as it the rapid charger that charges the batteries outside the Roomba then you should be ok. But, from looking at ebay, the rapid charger costs between $30 an $50... you could probably pick up a replacement or parts Sage for that price. Maybe even a Disco/Scheduler if you were lu...

Re: Just got iRobot to ship me a 5XX OSMO
I, too, wouldn't want to see his 580 become an AW robot only and no longer support LHs, if that's what the OSMO will do. I agree.... but as it has been pointed out: The old firmware looks for a constant IR beam to detect a lighthouse or a VW. The auto VWs blink (thanks for the vid vic7767) so the f...
