Black and Decker robot vacuum power supply

Post by jrh_james »

Hi I picked up a cheap Black and Decker robot vacuum of the type as shown below. It seems to work OK but is missing the charger. I don't stand much of a chance finding an original one so I wonder if anyone could tell me what voltage and current the charger needs to be. The battery is 14.4v.

Thanks James.

I had a look around and I found a picture of the charger and it is 24V 1A.
I am never going to find a plug that will fit into the original power socket.
I thought I would buy a 5.5mm standard power jack socket but I am not sure where to mount it.
If I put it on the side it will stick out and might bump into furniture when the robot moves around.
If I put it on the top it will collect dust.

Can't tell much from the pics in the link, but it looks like a co-ax? I'll be very surprised if you cannot get one from an electronics shop or eBay even? Sometimes they use a bigger diameter pin to try make the common jack not fit {here's looking at YOU iRobot!} but even then they are still in the range that is available. They are not going to "invent" their own.

Hi it's got some weird two-pin "bat" shaped connector:

Daymn!!! That sucks.

Bit of work but I reckon you could get a flush-mount co-ax female bodged in there?
