Robot Reviews FAQ

Post by robotreviews »

Welcome to Robot Reviews! Please feel free to post any questions, suggestions or comments about the site here. Listed below are the answers to some of the frequently asked questions here at the site:

Where's my thread?
If you are unable to find a thread, it was probably moved to a more appropriate forum (SEARCH for it here)
... or deleted completely if it was inappropriate for our community.
If you want a specific explanation, ask a mod (use the Image icon in the top right hand corner of every message.
) and ask.

I'm spitting MAD at the mods... How do I get heard/listened to/considered?
First, use the report post from any forum post, express yourself respectfully, and ask for an explanation.
If that doesn't work... send a private message to Craig with your concern. Please be sure to include your username, date and time of moderator action and, if possible, a link to the thread in question. Also, feel free to offer specific suggestions or alternative actions.. then please be patient and wait for a reply.

SEARCH TIPS
Here are some tricks for using the search box that is at the top of the forum:

By default, the search box will search for ANY of the words that you type. That means if you search for the words "Roomba scheduler remote", you will find messages that contain any of those three words. You can use AND to define words which must be in the results, OR to define words which may be in the result and NOT to define words which should not be in the result. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches.

Click on the Roomba Review Advanced Search below the search box for even more options. Alternatively, if you are having trouble searching for a specific term, such as "Roomba 2.1", you can use the pulldown menu to the right of the search box to search the site using Google as well.

Regards,
Craig

I have a question. Why is this site's copyright date still in 2017? even thought its 2023.

Because the site is badly in need of updating!

Either way, it's been fixed. Thanks!

How many people are working on this website if it's that bad?
If there's any way, I can help if you need it.

Appreciate the offer!

There are plans to migrate the site to a new platform later this year. As soon as I have more information, I'll make sure to let you know.

Hi! It's been a while. By coincidence I decided to revisit this site today. I thought it was long dead, as chrome always returns an error page.
But just now I realized that chrome does not load the site because it automatically forces the use of httpS, therefore not finding the site.
I couldn't figure out how to turn that off, so I used Edge and the site loaded correctly.
It's great to know that this community is still up and running.

To let you know, the copyright date on the home screen is back to displaying 2017 on it. Sorry for not being online for a while.

I do have one thing I recommend, a section on the main page or Robot chat page that shows all the new activity. I liked that about the old website so I could check everything new, just for the latest messages though. Also a "Dark Mode" would be cool to see. I am also willing to help in any form if you need it, just let me know.

Re: Robot Reviews FAQ

It's definitely planned, I used to use it to monitor new posts also.

The main cause of why it took so long to upgrade everything was because I had made the mistake of tightly integrating phpbb into drupal, and drupal was very unforgiving when upgrading to new versions.

In the end I realized if I waited until I had migrated everything perfectly from drupal to wordpress I would never finish it so I just bit the bullet and migrated the forum with the plan to migrate the old content and the rest of the sections after the forum was stable.

The forum looks pretty good, and with the new version mods will definitely be easier. I have been playing with integrating the new posts into a wordpress block that doesn't require synching the users which seems to be working pretty well. Hopefully things will go a lot quicker now.

I appreciate the offer to help! I'm sure once I start migrating more sections I'm definitely going to need it!
