Leaving pets alone with robot vacs

Post by jck »

Just a warning for those of us that leave pets home alone for a period of time. Our Neato vacuum is setup with it's charging base in a spare bedroom, and our cat's litter box is in the closet of that room. I noticed multiple times that the Neato will close the door to the room if the door is left open a small amount. I realized that if we were away for a few days, our cat could get stuck in that room without food or water if the vac closed the door. So be mindful of what can happen while you are away!! I solved this on my Neato by adding a no-go line a few inches from the door, so the vac will no longer get close enough to the door to close it.

Good heads-up! Thanks! I never even thought about the vac closing a door like that — that could’ve gone bad fast. Gonna check how ours runs now. Funny enough, my kid’s got one of those AI robots, and Miko customer service has actually been super helpful whenever we’ve had random setup issues. Now I think whether the mentioned situation is possible with an AI robot, not only with the vac.

PLEASE get a magnetic strip because the no go zones and zones are gone because of the cloud service shutdown.
