New to Robot Vacs - Help Needed

Post by TPrice »

Hi

I'm new here, I've been thinking for a while about joining the robot vac owners club but there seem to be a number of different types around. The main ones I'm interested in are the Roomba and Electrolux's Trilobite which is normally much more expensive but I've just seen it for ?300!! Just wondering whether anyone has tried the Trilobite and what you think of it.

Also I'm wondering how much normal vacuuming I'm going to need to do if I get one of these things, is it throw away the Hoover time or will I still need the big main vac as well.

Thanks

If you have carpet you'll still need the big vac.

The Trilobite is far superior to the Roomba (much more suction power, better navigation, more durable etc). Can you please tell me where you found the Trilobite for so cheap? I am guessing you saw a used Trilobite on eBay.

Cheap Trilobote

Post by TPrice »

Hi

I think it was ?299 in John Lewis in Milton Keynes (UK), I suspect they were selling off their stock. Not sure if that is a good sign or not - what do you think?

If I still need to use a main vac (I have carpets) is there much point in getting a Robot - I'm just wondering if it will just add to the pile of gadgets that I don't use in my garage. Any opinions?

Well, it really depends on your floors. If you don't have any carpet then you don't really need a full sized vac at all.

I have carpetting and I do need to use a full sized vac once in awhile, but I use my roombas every day. I set one to clean upstairs and one downstairs before I leave the house and overall I am very happy with them. They do require regular cleaning, but the new models appear to be easier to clean then the original ones, so they should be easier to maintain then the older ones.
