Well, I am not addicted and I like to think I am a Roomba evangelist rather than a Roombaholic. My justification to my wife: if I get my Roombas, Scoobas and Dirt Dogs, then we don't need to hire a cleaning person (say $10/hr for $100/month * 12 = $1,200 "savings" go to my bots). You get the idea. The "best secret to a successful marriage" (I heard that from someone else on the iRobot forum).

laughink:
i can help you with that math. 100$ a month? 3 yrs ago my cleaning ladies charged me 80$ per session, for a 2300 SF house. no laundry or anything fancy, just basic cleaning, though i probably got charged the "slob rate". i could only afford every other wk though believe me i needed them more than that. still, over 2000/yr, and that's assuming the rates haven't gone up. thing is too that the bots clean everyday 'round here, so letting the house "go" for a week or two to get my money's worth from the cleaning service would result in the EPA paying a visit.
also, hubby didn't look as horrified when i brought home the white lab who was blowing her coat a few months ago.

krang has already been trying to help me with my "burden" of bots, with only limited success. however, in the process she seems to have gotten infected too

I received my roomba pet 4275 today.. (from wootoff last week) Shipped fedex and arrived much sooner than I expected.
After reading some of the differences I was glad to see the swivel front wheel instead of the fixed wheel when I turned it over.
It's over on the charger right now..

Is there anything specific that I should do before I start him up for the first time?

okay, I have to ask a stupid question. I have purchased from Woot (roombas and other things) and I know what a wootoff is but how do you all know when there is a wootoff happening? Is it announced on woot.com and, if so, do you have a window open at woot.com and keep refreshing it and checking it all day? is there an alert email that comes out?

Basically at midnight when they update the page, if the flashing lights and progress bar are there then it's woot-off time... As far as I know there is no schedule for woot-offs. They simply spring them on us when we don't have time to sit in front of the computer and watch them all day. (j/k)

There are sites that show progress during wootoffs, such as a percentage of items left and will automatically refresh themselves to keep the progress updated. But refreshing the window yourself is an option.

Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, keeping my fingers crossed that it does!

the pet models were introduced around may of 07, and they started making the wheels all swivel after 09/06 per Chris at Roomba Exchange.
one of my woot 4230's has a birthdate of 10/06 and is swivel. one of my sages was born 11/06, also swivel. i'm gonna bet on all the 4275's being swivel.

I meant I was keeping my fingers crossed that it arrives tomorrow!

I figured it would have a swivel wheel.

Which reminds me, Mom got the swivel base (Amazon, $29), which she had to pry out of the mailbox as the mailperson had jammed it in tightly. She said it was well-packed and looked fine but she had not tried it yet, so I don't know which model it is or if it works.

I checked iRobot prices on Amazon daily. And I am getting my 4260 tomorrow and hopefully it is going to be a swivel wheel as well.

It's here and charging!

It will be nice to have two. I was thinking I would leave one in Washington but now I think I'm likely to bring it back and forth. Having two in the bigger house will be helpful. (I know you are all thinking, two is not going to be enough, but I actually have three... one is at Mom's.)

Oh, and yes, it has a swivel wheel. It's the model that was listed, 4275.
