New Roomba battery dies halfway through house

We got a roomba 560 for christmas and the battery dies in the living room. We live in a 1300 sqft ranch. we have the base in our bedroom and divide the bedroom with a lighthouse and the kitchen with a lighthouse. We have two bedrooms closed off but it still dies in the living room. Are there tips to get it to do the whole house.

ive been playing around with it. i moved the dock to a corner in the central room in the house. I put the light houses in the two doorways perpendicular with the wall but pointing in the general direction of the dock. I pushed the dock button with the roomba 15 ft away from the dock and it circled around toward the dock. It got within 6ft and spun around. It drove around then got within 6in from the dock and did a 180 an went around the room for 10 min until I gave up. I then put the lighthouses on the other wall of the door way and the roomba took off toward the hall way and headed into our bedroom. I put the roomba 10ft away from the dock pointing directly at it and it docked. Ive only had it for 3 days but that seem wrong to me. That would explain why it dies in the middle of our house. It cant find the dock.

Try locating the LHs away from the home base. The IR beams from the LHs may confuse the Roomba when it reads the IR beams coming from the home base. The LHs should not point at the home base.

for one cleaning it cleaned the living room, went into the kitchen and cleaned, came back across the living room and went down the hallway and into the bedroom. Cleaned the bedroom and came back into the living room and started looking for the dock but got confused in the entry way and died. That was understandable because there was a dog cage there and couldnt find its way around it. I moved the dog cage and let it clean last night. It cleaned our living room for 1hour 40min before it was low on battery and went to the dock. It never crossed past the lighthouses to clean the other rooms. It also kept going to one corner of the room and cleaning next to a plant stand (probally 15-20 times). It would also move 2inches, do a 360, move 2 inches, do a 360. It did it probally 10 times before continuing on. Is my roomba messed up.

You have to be careful with the IR beams. They can go from the dock through the dog crate and confuse the unit on where the dock really is (a straight path would be nice). As for spinning in the corner, is it in a tight spot hitting furniture or is there a virtual wall nearby? Both of which could cause the behavior you describe. If neither of those conditions apply, run diagnostics on it and check bumpers, cliff sensors and IR.

when it was spinning, it was close to the light house. I dont know where to put these light houses. Why would it clean one room for 90+ mins and never leave this room. I thought it would do 25min max per room. I check and cleaned everything. What other diagnostics are there. Here is a picture that shows how my dock/lighthouses are setup.

Check out the link in this topic. An irobot engineer goes over lighthouse placement. It may help you find a suitable arrangement.
