I tried turning UAC back on and setting the neatoupgrader.exe to run as admin but still no luck for me, I might try it from my WHS11 server and see if that works.
Win7 x64 and Firefox worked ok for me, but I had to uninstall the updater and reinstall it, as the first time the updater did not see the Neato. When I unplugged and replugged the USB connector, Windows gave me a "failed connect" sound (three short low beeps). A reinstall fixed that and it updated fine.
The web page for step 1 is confusing - it has all this text and pictures for the install step, and then, nothing afterward to do the update. I eventually found the Next button at the top of the page, where I was not expecting it. May I suggest adding a second Next button at the bottom, after all the illustrations?

That is more likely a problem with the USB port not beaing able to recognize the Neato.
Plug in the USB cable to the Neato and your computer and turn on the Neato. Check in your Device Manager to see if you can find the Neato robot on a serial port. If it is not there the trouble could be the cable, connection socket, or the USB driver installation.
Check the cable on another device. If that is not the problem, then try uninstalling the Neato driver and start the updater from the Neato web site again.
No luck for me. I'm running Windows XP on my MacBook Pro with Parallels. I've installed the Neato Updater Tool and have tried IE Explorer, Chrome and Firefox to no avail. Every time I click to "Check for Available Updates" I get error messages to check and make sure the Neato is connected to the computer. I have looked in Device manager and I have no errors there. The Neato is connected to a port and all USB Hub information is correct without any issues. I have also uninstalled/installed the Updater Tool several times and restarted the computer. Still, no luck.
I guess I'll have to take my XV-11 to work tomorrow and see if I can update there.
Yes. I made sure that Parallels got the Neato and not Lion. It seems like everything works except for when I am checking for updated software via the Neato website. It's like the site isn't triggering the Updater Tool .exe or isn't detecting that the Neato is attached? I'm stumped.

My PC detects the Neato just fine and installs the driver, it's the upgrade tool that doesn't - the cable is a known good cable from my wife's camera and I've also used it for programming my logitech universal remote with no issues.
Upgrade process is not working here either. It kept saying it cannot find USB device. I opened device manager and Neato is there on the list. Definitely something else. Eagle landed but crashed and burned.
I'm using Win 7 64-bit home premium edition and the upgrade does not work for me as well. The COM port driver installation is ok but the upgrader application fails to work properly. I've uninstalled and re-installed the driver several times (turning off my norton AV as well) and the result is the same. I've tried with both Firefox and IE. Neato, please look into the matter.
My Neato updated to version 2.1 using Win7 64 bit homepremium but not on the first attempt. I had to delete the driver then have it install again by connecting the USB cable to the Neato and power it on. Then I ran Realterm, connected to the same port that the Neato driver created, typed "H" and got the Neato help menu. I closed Realterm, went to the Neato website, went right to step 2, the system detected my Neato with version 1.1, I selected to upgrade the Neato and the upgrade started. The problem I had after that was I never received an indication of a successful upgrade to 2.1 but using the menu I was able to verify the firmware was upgraded to 2.1

I used Win 7 x64 Ultimate and Google Chrome on a 4 year old Core2Duo E8400 system and it worked beautifully.
If you are sure the driver/app is installed (you have to make sure you click on all the "OK I trust this" boxes correctly during install), reboot your PC (probably already done) plug in the vac (USB) before you load your browser (and maybe try Chrome) and then go straight to step 2.
Per the previous post, I did get a "successful update" message - it said something about "your machine is now ready to use".
This is so frustrating! I'm now wondering if its the driver thats not working for my system. After installing the driver, i tried to use Putty to communicate with my XV11. I could only type a single character. There's no response thereafter. I've also tried using a different USB port and its still the same. Any other suggestions?
all i can suggest is to restore your system to before the first instillation of the driver restart etc then install driver restart then try updating havnt got neato yet so not to sure how the restarting would work in-between installing driver and updating neato

I don't think VM is handling the neato properly it see's it as a modem for some reason...
