HSN Price: $249.90
Model #53501

Was Hammachler Schlemmer left out accidentally or will they no longer be handling retail sales?
HS will have the new Roombas soon. :wink:
Wait ... is that a 560 for $250 with free shipping and handling? It says scheduler included. But the model is listed as 53501. Couldn't find that on the iRobot site.

Edit: I did some more research, and I guess this is the "upcoming" 535 model. Strangely enough, it seems to be a better option than getting a 560 since it is schedulable, but only through the remote. Since the remote is 59.99 (and maybe less at HSN), this might be the better way to go. Also strangely enough, HSN says that this model is available for delivery NOW.

I think I'll wait for HammSchlemm to carry it so I can get the 100% lifetime guarantee.

Plus I'll send them the broken Disco that I bought from them in 2004! Yay!

Hello Robotic! Welcome to RoombaReview.com :D

HS will make you pay S/H charges to send the robot if you are doing an 'upgrade' or getting your $$ back from them. If the robot is to be replaced it will be with the same or similar model at no cost to you (including S/H charges). This information was provided by HS, contact them if you need more information. Either way you end up having a great robot! :wink:

Hi! Long time lurker, first time poster... etc, etc. I'm sort of a Roomba Nut- the 'army' numbers 7 currently, with another gen 1 on the way.

My original Roomba was a Pro Elite from HamSchlem. By the time it started acting funny the new Discovery was out and I was able to send in the gen 1 and put the credit toward the Disco. I don't remember about S&H, though.
Still- the guarantee is worth it. $250 worth of 2004 credit gets lots more Roomba-per-dollar today.
I'll definitely check with them first about the return.

Oh yes, I forgot, Megan, iRobot CS, said that the only "retail" places that have special packages, currently are HSN, Costco, and Sam's Club although she wasn't sure if Costco and Sam's are on shelves yet.

She said others will follow but not sure when. I'm not sure if the "followers" will be Retailer Specific Packages or not.

I ordered a Wireless Command Module, RCM today from iRobot, for my 535's from HSN. Megan said that the module is Roomba specific so to use it on more than one it would have to be reset with 2nd, 3rd, etc., Roomba's schedule reentered into the module for each individual Roomba's programming. No problem for me I don't imagine.

Glad to be back to RR for the release of the 500 series. One question to those owners, do these new models have the yellow pieces at the end of the brushes? Seriously, I can't stand those little things--they always sneak out when I'm cleaning it!

Thank god! I'll definitely be picking one of these up soon enough. I've heard of shipping delays here so I just might hold out to pickup a 570 in retail next month.

AFAIK, the 570 model will only be sold at iRobot and two other online retailers. All other models should show up at your local stores soon. If you will buy it at BBB or LnT don't forget the 20% off cupon! :wink:

What's BBB, and whats the 20% coupon? The 560 and 570--the only difference is a remote, correct? And I can purchase a remote for $60 later on if I go for the 560?

Thanks for helping out!

The Roomba 570 will only be available directly from iRobot, and from Hammacher Schlemmer. It will not be available from anywhere else.

Hammacher has now begun taking pre orders for the Roomba 570, with shipping to begin on 9/20/07.

Here are some abbreviations that will be handy:

BBB = Bed, Bath & Beyond

LnT = Linen-n-Things

HS= Hammacher & Schlemmer

HSN = Home Shopping Network

All of these are places where they sell iRobot products. BBB offers via the Sunday newspaper (USA) or via Mail a 20% off coupon from many of their items sold at their stores, this includes iRobot products.

Yes, the difference is in the 'wireless center', extra brush set and the all black paint job. If you wish, as you stated, you can purchase the wireless center and the Roomba 560 if you wished. :wink:

The 570 sounds like a better deal...Is there a link to print that coupon online? Saving 20% sounds great, but I didn't get that ad or USA today.

Thanks.

Power supply

Post by gyzz »

Hello roombareview

You stated on P. 2 of this thread.:

"The 500 series is a complete and total redesign. None of the parts and accessories from the previous generation are compatible with it, with the exception of the virtual walls, which all still appear to be cross compatible, and the AC charger - which appears to output the exact same power as the previous models, an is plug compatible"

Just to make shure, this means that i can use the powersupply from the old Discoverer to the new 5xx series ?? 8) 8) 8)

If so i have the oppertunity of bringing the 5xx series home to europe next time i am in USA, and use the new charging station with my "old" powersupply :twisted: :twisted:

Just to give you an idea, we still havent got the Scooba, yet so no i will absolutely NOT weight til it comes over here :x

The coupons do not show up on National newspapers. Try your local Sunday paper or check your mail, sometimes they send them there as well. AFAIK, they do not have these coupons online. :wink:

* iRobot?s proprietary built-in, soft-touch intelligent sensing system that can detect when Roomba is approaching a wall or obstacle and automatically slow the robot for a gentler impact and quieter operation;
In one of the video clips I saw the new unit still seemed to hit an object at a pretty good clip. I'd be interested to hear whether the new unit eliminates the need for Roomba bumpers to eliminate dings in chair legs, etc.

I wouldn't count on it 100%. It works very well, but it really depends on the angle in which it approaches an object. It is still capable of hitting objects at full speed if it approaches them at an angle, especially if the object is not very wide, such as the leg of a table.
