Electrolux Trilobite error 15

Post by hanschri »

Anyone here got the skills when it comes to the Electrolux Trilobite?

I have a old red trilobite that runs for a minute, giving an irregular sound from the motor, going up and down in strength, then stops and shows error 15. I have cleaned it and checked the dust casette and tried to take the machine apart, but I never managed to do so.
Is the engine f*ed?
Is it something stuck somewhere?
Batteries?
What can I do?

Help me, you're my only hope!

According to what manual said:
15 - check dust cassette,
*dustbin or filter is incorrectly set,
*micro-filer dirty (it should be changed everytime), washing it with water (especially soapy) isn't enough. After many washes cycles, filter isn't effective and can pass away dust and small particles through it to the motor. It can damage/clogged motor. BTW it is not written in the manual that it can be washed. So if you do that, it can be one of possibilities.

thanks piokrza, i have changed the filter but the problem remains. If the engine is clogged, can i clean it? Can the front or top be removed to reach the motor? I'll name my robots children after you for your help!

Yes, but it isn't safe. You can simply damage the bumper and/or main board.

I only found that you need to replace the batteries.. Very limited information regarding the error codes.

Error Code 4

In manual for Trilobite 2.0 is written:

"Below is a list of vulnerabilities that can be
remove yourself. In the case of join other
error messages
should be re-charge
and run the vacuum cleaner Trilobite. If the cleaner does not
runs, you should contact the service department
customer, see page 18."

for Trilobite 1.0:

"The only faults that you can rectify yourself are the ones listed below. In the event of other error messages, recharge and restart your Trilobite. If it still does not start, contact our Customer Service, see page 16."

So, I think that the "other" are only known for the service.

I am probably going to have to send one of my Trilobites in for service to Electrolux in Texas. I have one that will start up and turn to start then give an "Error 4". I cannot find any reference to what Error 4 means. I have switched out the batteries with one of my other Trilobites but it does the same thing so that tells me that it is not the batteries. But it does sound like there is a reduction in power that the motors can spin all the way up before it gives the error. I have figured out how to take it apart and I have cleaned the inside out and looked for any obvious problems but other than having to blow all of the dirt out of the unit, I was not able to find any. Everything looks good inside. I was disappointed to find out that the Trilobite vacuum motor exhausts its air that it draws in right out into the housing of the unit right on top of it's main circuit board. I keep the filters clean and change them very often and never have mine ever been real dirty, but the circuit board was completely caked over in dust. This told me that some dust does get by the filter and into the Trilobite. Knowing this I will now have to blow out my other Trilobites which will be a small job since getting the front bumper off takes a little effort so as not to damage the circuit board. If anyone ever figures out what "error 4" means let me know. Otherwise I do have a telephone number to call to get an RMA so as to get it fixed. Just fyi.
