The most important feature would be to start and stop the cleaning - If I come home and the machine is working, I'd like it to just return home to its charger. The home automation knows when someone is home, and therefore should instruct the vacuum cleaner to go away, and start it on schedule, only if no one is home.

If extra information such as "the dustbin needs emptying", "I'm stuck" where available, that would be a bonus.

If the BT protocol is a simple one or documented/open, (or if it is indeed wifi - even better), a plugin to the different home automation software could easily be created by its user base.

With Alexa integration, and Amazon "skill" software open source in some ways, DIY supported, it might be possible for hackers to add this function to Alexa software for robots (returning to base when resident is home).

Would be interested in seeing if anyone is able to figure it out...have you tried?

I don't use home automation myself so have not tried this, but the basic principle for hacking is this:
if you can access with Amazon's support tools the "skill" for the robot, you would find code for signaling the robot in response to various commands already supported, which would presumably include some sort of return to base instruction hopefully. There are two parts to Alexa operation: recognizing commands to Alexa, the Amazon supplied part, and the com protocol for activating the WiFi equipped robot, the robot company's part. So the problem is to copy this signaling code into a routine in the home automation software which detects when the user returns home. It all depends on what code can be accessed and modified.
The robot companies have not shown much interest in user requests for improvements and march to their own peculiar marketing drummer I have never fathomed -- hence all the mods described here to fix this and that little problem in all the available products.

If a robot has a smartphone app for giving various commands to the robot via WiFi, a packet sniffer or some such professional WiFi network logging tool could in principle capture the communication with the robot and possibly identify the signals needed to command a return to base.

I think your customer service is terrible. No one has answered any of my queries for over 72 hours. Your U.S. phone number doesn't work. You do not offer spare or replacement parts anywhere that I can find.

Do NOT purchase this or any other Electrolux product.
