For anyone in Australia with a US Scooba, just thought you'd like to know that a stepdown transformer is not the only alternative. I've just confirmed with Salton Australia that the Australian Scooba power supply available from them can be used with US-bought Scooba's no problem!
See http://www.salton.com.au/products/123.More expensive thanmost basic stepdown transformers, though I think it is a better long-term solution for leaving the power connected to our Scooba.

Thanks Kylie! I was pretty sure that was the case, we had confirmed it for roomba earlier, but it is great to have an official confirmation now!
How was Salton? Was it easy to get the right information from them?
I haven't tried contacting them yet, so I am interested how good their service is.
I am going to see how the looj behaves with a step down transformer. Just got confirmation it is on its way from the US. yippee!!
Will report back after I tried it.

I've found Salton OK but just expensive (eg A$20 for a single roomba 500 series side brush!) but they are a very good options for Australian PS (but I've now purchased a good step down), FYI they quoted me the following in A$ (and shipping was only A$5):
- Roomba 560 240v Power Supply $52.00
- Scooba 350 240v Power Supply $99.00
Scooba 350 Rubber Storage Mat (?) ? $25.00
Unfortunatly they don't supply "Clorox" and "we recommend white Vinegar solution. Unfortunately, we do not recommend any other solutions."
FYI - I've just placed an order with http://www.roombaexchange.com/ for a bunch on parts and their shipping did not seem to bad including Clorox!
Thanks
Nathan

Yep, thats the Scooba Power Supply I just got for $99 from Salton, plus a Scooba Caddy. Means I can have my US Scooba on all the time, as previously, the step-down transformer was getting too hot and shutting off.

I would be careful about using a laptop charger or other charger not designed for a Roomba. I had a similar problem with power supply being 110 volt, but obviously here in Australia, we have a line voltage of 240.
Before I found a stepdown transformer, I pulled apart the iRobot charger to see if it was multi voltage input (which it isn't by the way) and found a shite load of electronics inside. This is because the charger has some 'smarts' built into it to charge the Roomba at the right speed.
So, I went to Jaycar Electronics ( I think they are all over Australia, but have an online shop if they are not near you) and bought a stepdown transformer. There is a $50 one that can handle the current demand, BUT, it is not rated as a continual supply, so it may trip or overheat.
I spent the dollars and bought the $ 99-- one and it works extremely well. I am an electrician, not an electronics expert, but this solution seems to work well for my Roomba

Re: Australian Scooba Power Supply compatible with US Scooba's
This is an old thread so I was wondering how these scooba's are going a year or so on having used different power supplies?
