Yet another brush fix

Post by NipplesTheCat »

Ive been going through a lot of side brushes and I got tired of getting replacements sent even if they are free. I decided to try to go ahead and repair one of my side brushes before the arms started falling off completely. As you can see in the second pic my arms would all develop cracks and eventually I would lose the ends of my brush arms. I took a brush that had 2 arms almost completely gone and used a bit of left over electrical shrink tubing from a wiring job I did earlier. It comes in all kinds of lengths, diameters, and thicknesses. I happened to have some that was he perfect diameter and color. It was also pretty thin stuff so it doesnt make the arms too stiff. Its been working great for a few weeks now. You can get the shrink wrap at any walmart of car parts store for cheap.

P.S. Excuse my filthy hands. I just got done doing the brakes on my car. :P

well, now that you have a 4230 you can find a way to make it so the blue squeegee doesn't fall apart...they're 8 bucks each *plus* shipping. scotch tape seems to work so far, but need replacing frequently. and a certain amount of hand eye coordination so the front edge and the back edge kinda sorta approximate.

Well I don't know about that. Many of us including myself don't break brushes at all.

yup.
and it's my least-run bot nowadays.
two brushes completely limbless (hung one on the wall and called 'im "art", threw one on the floor and called him "mat", will turn this one into a bath toy and call him "bob" when he's done too).
two missing from present one.
and we all know i am so very careful with "the princess".
in all seriousness, i do think the scatter mats contributed to it, but now i pick up the mats. so i give up. if it's a rug, it's the silk rug in the living room with the tassels, but she seems to climb right up there with no hesitation. maybe it's the Christmas tree stand.

I had 2 broken arms at the same place Nipples the Cat had breaks. If it happens again, I'll buy some of that tape. Thanks for the suggestion!

hmm, lost number 15 today, but 2 more are on the brink....going for 17. do i hold the record for the most broken arms?
but----this is the first time i've seen a break farther up the arm, similar to what N the C is seeing.
must be the Christmas tree stand.
no matter, they're sending me a 3-pack.
Cat-man, you *jinxed* me.

I too have had the breaking near the bristles - The plastic seems stiffer than the factory fitted side brush. The "new" brushes lasted one week - the replacements have lasted far longer - I'm beginning to think that they are testing the brushes out on us to see which batch works and which does not.

My advice is to keep reporting the failure of the product and requesting your replacements. Sooner or later they're fix it.

Mine break at the hub too. But if you're really tired of them breaking, wouldn't the 4xx series fit?
