I've been lurking around here for about a month and a half absorbing all the info I could about robot vacs (never had one before). Seems it was good timing, as I was informed and decided on the Neato just as the pre-orders with Hammacher became available. I ordered on Aug 5th and received mine 2 days ago... definitely not vaporware :)

I'm collecting thoughts as I have time and will post them hopefully before too long. I do have some feedback for Neato, but overall I'm more and more impressed with each use of this little vacuum. To sum up my experience so far would be "A rocky start but wins in the end".

There are some aspects of my apartment that it has trouble with, but working around them has been easy. I have two bengals (short-hair, low shedding), but my girlfriend has long red hair and sheds plenty ;)

Cheers,
Gabe

I'd love to hear your collected thoughts and review about the neatosucker. I'm also blessed with a long red haired girlfriend but unfortunately i live in europe. I guess we'll have to wait a year or so before we're swapping from roomba to neato.

So neato, please expand to europe soon, a lot of potential buyers love to get their hands on one.

Have a good 1

I look forward to your feedback - I myself have long red hair and shed plenty! My hair is definitely the biggest obstacle to the roomba  but wiht Victors mod the robot is doing a great job!

I'm not sure what my 'due date' is. I got a postcard from HS last Wednesday telling me shipping will be late and that the new projected date would be Sept 15, along with a return card I could use to cancel the order if I wanted to. But if I go to the HS site (which I did the same day the postcard arrived), they have my date now listed as Oct 20 (it was Sept 30 when I checked the previous day). I hope that one's not true, though I suspect it is. Originally it was supposed to ship in early August, and has been bumped several times since in chunks of about 2weeks.

I'm believing it's not vaporware, now, since there have been a lot of reports of people getting shipments (though a disturbing number of them are to report problems). But I don't know we can hold out much longer here before just heading back to a Roomba. Neither my wife nor I are able to do much hand vacuuming and the place is getting pretty dusty since our old Roomba died!

Same deal. I got the postcard a couple of days ago. I think this is just a case of not ramping production to sufficiently meet demand. I think neato was surprised at the volume of orders and the slipping ship dates are evidence of that.

That is "Hardware" that turns into gas and becomes "VAPOR"

"Vaporware is a word used to describe products, usually computer hardware or software, that were not released on the date announced by their developer, or that were announced months or years before their release. Application of the word usually implies a negative opinion of a product, and uncertainty that it will eventually be released. The word has been applied to a growing range of products including consumer electronics, automobiles, and some stock trading practices."

Same story here. Ship date is now late October, even though I got a postcard Sat. stating it was coming in a few days.

Lets see Neato Announces late fall/early winter nearly a year ago, and still can only ship a few products. I'm guessing supplier and production problems. Kind of reminds me of the DeLorean, very well designed, and probably a superior product, but very little product actually produced. However just because you have good design does not mean you know how to run a business. Maybe the Neato will show up in Back To The Future IV......

I'm headin' to Costco this week and gettn' the Roomba I saw for 250, at least its tangible.

Just thought I'd maybe give you guys some (false?) hope.

Mine was suppose to ship on 8/20, but didn't seem to have shipped. When I called afterward they said it would ship on 8/31. To my surprise, it shipped sometime between the two dates, and I received it on the 1st (regular 6 days shipping).

And it works great

Hi guys,
Can someone enlighten me how does the hammacher.com "Lifetime Guarantee" works? :?:

http://www.hammacher.com/Editorial/LifetimeGuarantee

Do we need to purchase something extra on top of the Neato's $399.95?
How can the company stay profitable when the manufacturer offer only 1 year warranty and hammacher.com gives life time guarantee?

Thanks

You don't need to do anything else. Just keep all of the boxes. H&S will provide a pre-paid shipping label back to them, if in the event you need to return/exchange it.

I don't know how they are able to stay profitable and offer this valuable service.
