I had this behavior with 1.1

Thx rstark.

Does anyone has the same behaviour (problem ...) with v2.0 ?

Mine does that also if it is in a tight spot it will back up and go up on the furniture with sw 2.0.But as I remember it did it with 2.1 also. There were only two things that i liked better with sw 2.1 was the backup to the dock and neato would shut off the brush in a tight situation until it freed itself. All the rest should stay as 2.0 and add these two items to sw2.0

the XV-11 has always done the reversing up things to escape from tight spots and it's the one thing i really dont like as it damages timber finishes and can scratch walls etc!

I really dont know why a smart bot with positional awareness cant reverse back the way it came rather than forcing its way out of a tight spot.

A lot of that power reversing is due to the lack of sensors on the rear of the robot. Only when the up switch on a wheel sensor or tachometer reading stops will the robot change what it's doing when in reverse.

Hi Vic, imo that shouldn't matter as it has a 360 degree view from its Lidar system and should know what is behind it.

The issue is that evidently the contact from the rear end hitting objects hard indicates the Lidar is not detecting close objects well enough to prevent the collision.

try a different location the first i tryed did this i think i might be right in saying that you bot isn't recognising the base so it just returns to its starting location......right next to the base
400/disco disassembly's (everything down to the PCB)

one day many years from now a person will say "right I'll just ROOMBA downstairs" instead of hoover
oh wait I already do :)

main bot: neato xv-15 (Europe xv-11)
to sell (one day): roomba sage and silver (both 400's)

I downgraded to V2 and find it MUCH better. My suggestion to people that haven't upgraded from 1.x is to upgrade to 2.1 then do an immediate downgrade to 2.0.

I think I might do a downgrade to 2.0.

I did move my neato to a new spot and it docked 2 of th 3 times yesterday. I'll wait and see how well it docks when I come home from work.

hi
i dont know about FW 2.0 but i found that the only good thing about 2.1 FW is that neato no longer stuck when it try to up on my big shagi karpet, and now when it up on it he turn off the brush and get to revers :)

i dont knoe if FW 2.0 alsoo do it ( i hope so becuse i dont like the 2.1 at all)

thanks

Well, everybody is downgrading to v2.0...

Neato, are you ready for v2.2 ? So many ideas have been proposed here !

I still wonder if it makes any sense for me to update mine from 1.1 to 2.0/2.2 :?

I can't imagine that 2.0 is better than 2.1.
If Neato enginers changed something (and it took so much time) they knew what they did...
Tomorrow I will update my Neato without thinking twice.

imo v2.1 is better than v1.x however v2.0* is the best all round firmware.

*v2.0 doesnt have the:

odd beater bar shut off bug
the overly sensitive airflow sensing that says the bin is full when it's not
navigation seems to be better imo even tho v2.1 has a little more overlap

The deal breaker for me in 2.1 was the way it treated furniture and base boards (the outside corners). 2.1 was banging into them a lot compared to 1.1 & 2.0. Let just see how long @paolostar sticks with 2.1 before downgrading (downimproving) ;)

well downgraded to 2.0 and my neato went back to base

It's parked sideways in front of the base with the power on. Seems like 2.1 docked better. I think i'm upgrading back to 2.1.

yea that happened to mine when I came back to my gallery a few minutes ago. it was parked 5inches away from the dock and facing sideways. I set it to do a cleaning run before I left for the night. Seems like the only thing good about 2.1 is the parking script.
