Irobot roomba 560.
I bought this off ebay and It was missing one of the brushes for edges, and the battery was having problems so I took it apart, replaced the brush and cycled all the cells(as per google directions and help of the seller i bought it from) in the pack to check for bad cells but cycling them brought them all back to life so the battery does work now but it has trouble finding its charger sometimes.
It does work just fine but after looking for a while it does its (uh-oh) sound and stops I have not tried to start it from the charger though, any ideas on why its stopping?
I can't figure out why it can't find the charger either..
There is a program running in the Roomba that monitors the battery level. At a certain point (some say 12 volts) it will trigger the search for home base program function. If the battery does not have enough capacity reserve then it will not be able to provide the power needed to locate and dock on the home base. This is normally what happens to a used/worn battery over a period of time.
I did try starting it from the base charger but it doesnt finish the area. Instead it goes around and then sings its little do do do do do do song, and stops.
That means the base charger is in a place not readily visible to the Roomba. Or you're not placing the lighthouses effectively. It takes a little time to figure out where to place all these things so the Roomba has enough guidance and power to return home.
Maybe the area to be cleaned is too large for the Roomba. Decrease the cleaning area and see if it can return to dock. How long is it running before stopping?
When you open RobotChat, read the 4th topic down about lighthouses and docks - it has great information that may solve your problem. It's titled "Roomba 5xx Series Lighthouse and Virtual Wall Information" http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewto ... =1&t=11048
Ok moved sensors last night and ran roomba this morning, Still same results, I am about ready to pull my hair out ! The only other thing I can think to do is lock him in a room and keep moving him around.
As vic mentioned you may have a bad battery. What is the total runtime you get?
On a new battery you will get more time to find the dock when the robot detects the battery is low. On an old battery you get less time to find the dock.
I'm not sure how to do this on a 500 series but you can also try to force it to find the dock while the battery level is still good. On the 400 series pressing the spot and clean buttons at the same time will force it to seek the dock.

What kind of run times are you getting? If the run times don't improve over what you had in the past then you still have the same capacity issue the original battery displayed.
