Using Mint Plus in Australia

Post by kam76 »

Unfortunately Mint don't certify their products for use in Australia, and as a result it seems no one will ship the Mint Plus to Australia, except ebay sellers. I have my heart set on one and there's some reasonably priced on ebay. I just wanted to check with other users downunder whether all you need is just a plug adaptor (ie like a travel adaptor) or whether you need some kind of transformer as well? I contacted Mint and they said that they would not honour the warranty for use in Australia because it's not certified for use here, but that the adapter is rated for 100-240V so it should work without anything other than the plug. I just wanted to check other people's experience?

The other thing I wanted to check was the legitimacy of the ebay products - the one I'm looking at is a seller with 100% positive feedback advertising the mint plus as brand new and unopened, but it says that it doesn't include the C batteries. I've noticed other ebay listings are the same, but when you look at the official retailers' sites they all say the box includes 2 C batteries. Is this an indication the product's not legit or am I being too cynical?

Hi there :-).
I own a mint plus and I live in australia.
Thats all you need is a simple travel adapter.
As for purchasing, if you're uncomfortable going through ebay you could always try http://www.priceusa.com.au
I have used their service for a while buying all my robots through them with no hassle.
Plus if you get return protection with them and you get a defective unit (touch wood) you can send back through them with no charge. Win win all round. Better option if your worried about warranty issues as they'll help deal with that also.

Cheers
Nathan

edit: you can always email them if you have any concerns with purchasing through them. They are very friendly/helpfull .

In case anyone is interested - http://www.priceusa.com.au won't offer the return protection on robotic vacuums any more - they reckon that 50% were returned when the return protection insurance was available. So whilst I had originally decided to pay more and go with the robotshop to get their 5 year warranty, I ended up winging it with a cheaper ebay purchase from the US ($340 delivered for the mint plus, which is $60 cheaper than what I would have had to pay through robotshop and priceusa), because the cost of shipping to the US and back for any repairs was going to come close to the cost of a new one. Here's hoping the Mint lives up to its reputation as there'll be no returns for repairs :)

Hi Kam76
How did you go with your Mint Plus through ebay? You mentioned you purchased in Jan this year 2012. I've been onto Evolution and they say that they hope to have a distributor in Australia in the near future - my guess that is no definite commitment.
cheers trish

Hi

I am also after a mint plus from Australia, after been enjoying a neato for a couple of months. i am a bit concern about not having warranty at all from Evolution mint from australia. If something goes wrong you will have to buy a new one.
I am considering the evolution mint, not the plus, that buyhappier seems to be sending to Australia and they will send you a new one in case of problems. It is 200 plus 67 of delivery , so there is a big difference in price, but i will loose a lot of interest features I would have with the plus, like resume, liquid container, better battery and navigation system
There is also an ebay seller that says it does not deliver to EU, but it doesn't say anything about sending to Australia. The price is 330 plus 75 for delivery.
Don't know what to do.
