new xv-12

Post by a4refillpad »

I've always liked the look of the all white xv 12 which is only available in the US. I assumed that it being an older model due to be replaced soon by the "essentials" range that it would be of the older build.
Just managed to import one and was very much surprised that it has all of the minor new improvements featured in the latest signature models. On/off switch, improved bearings in brush bar etc...
Really makes the "new" models absolutely pointless when you can pick up the 12 for a bargain price. Especially for someone like myself who already own plenty of brushes and pet filters.

A new XV-12 AND a Clebo Arte added to your already impressive fleet? Having been put off Neato's completely, I'm looking forward to the new Deebot D11 with Neato-style laser-guidance AND camera/vision mapping AND app control AND the self-emptying bin... due sometime this year (apparently).

What happened to your Vorwerk (now broken)?

 Self inflicted sadly...
I decided to try and install a bluetooth module into it. Obviously something went wrong during the process and now no longer working. Very sad as it is a fantastic robot. Reliability was practically 100%. Never once experienced any issues like docking, navigation problems etc.. with it.

Not sure what you mean? Are you asking whether I would purchase one? No plans to currently. Happy with my existing karcher.

Not going to touch that discussion again with karcher vs neato. Plenty of polarised views on this forum re the two. Lol. Check out existing discussions in the rc3000 review thread. The rc4000 is essentially the same except for chassis colour. Strangely neato seems to have also adopted the same strategy too!
Anyway, pros and cons to every single robot I own. What you need to understand is what these are for each robot you're considering and then you decide what you can live with or without.
Or be crazy like myself....

Karcher
Pros. Really quiet; small and gets into areas others cannot; well made and solid; self emptying is great; doesn't care about moving chairs etc as it is non mapping; minimal robot proofing needed; very light touch on furniture regardless of colour; possible to leave running permanently!

Cons. Does take a very long time to clean a large space you need patience. No remote. No scheduling would argue that you might not need it as it takes so long anyway. No edge cleaning.

Neato
Pros. Powerful suction. Very quick to cover area. Deep clean on carpets. Scheduling capable. On hardfloors it leaves things squeaky clean. Avoids furniture well. Amazing lidar technology.

Cons. Very very loud especially on hardfloors unless you use pet brush. No remote. Reliability issues for some. Still no edge cleaning. Need to robot proof more than Karcher. Does not see black furniture properly.
