Neato D85 not receiving power
Hello,
I have a Neato D85 that I wanted to use again but when I plugged it in it didn’t turn on. I contacted Neato support but they suggested I send it in for repair because of the many problems it has had since it fell down the stairs, but I don’t have the money right now or send it in for repairs. I have a Roomba 880 as well I just got that’s battery of course went bad. In total I have 6 robots and only 1 works. The one that’s works is a Roomba Discovery. I will list all of them now. Neato D85, iRobot Roomba 880, iRobot Roomba Discovery 4210, iRobot Roomba Discovery 4210, iRobot Roomba 536, and a iRobot Roomba 410. Oh yeah. can’t forget the Scooba 330 5800 which I will test later today if it works

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
Have you tried this:
How do I manually turn on Neato?
2) Reset your Neato robot by taking it off of its charge base, press and hold the Start Button for 15 seconds to turn it off, and then press Start Button one more time to turn it on.

should I remove the battery too? I just want it to work without me having to buy a new one.

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
The power supply components have to be traced to determine repair needs. When on the dock, the bot is powered by the dock without the battery, and reports battery problems. Check the dock plates voltage with a voltmeter. Then connections inside from the charging contacts to the system board must be checked for continuity, or voltage at the system board. Falling down stairs though, especially if not carpeted, might damage the system board from shock, unknown. Basically analyzed by swapping a spare system board in -- change parts till it works... Shops equipped but individuals need extra vacuums for parts, not cheap. When batteries very old, worn out, consider that new battery cost is included in a new vacuum. Beware used robots will contain a used battery possibly limited remaining life.

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
Well, I got it in 2021 I think. I did have to replace the battery when I got it, but after it fell down the stairs it did work for about a year. One of the problems it was having before I put it away was when it got stuck it would end the cleaning run. and if I took out the dirt bin it would end the cleaning run. but I did check the voltages from the dock and the port that hooks up on the board it was outputting 18 Volts which was the correct voltage. So I think its either the board or something with the battery.

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
So I have the Neato XV signature/HP. I think the battery’s are bad and it has a problem that just started 20 minutes ago where even when I took it off of the charger it would think it is still charging. I was look into some other posts and found the only way to fix it is to replace the Mobo. I can temporarily stop it from thinking it is charging by putting it into test mode in Neato Control. I don’t want to return it as I just got it. Can this be fixed?

Another problem with it thinking it’s always charging, it gets near the base but does not go on it because it thinks it’s charging.
Thanks

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
The "stuck in charging mode" defect is caused by battery voltage leakage past a defective diode into the charging contacts so the sensor on those sees a voltage without being docked. This was first found on the XV models but later on the Botvac, diode D14 on XV and D5 in Botvac system board.
Docking Failure, Stuck in Charging Mode
Diode D14 "Neato XV Signature got stuck in charging mode"
http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewto ... 52#p126652
Possibly related to stopping in front of dock, false dock detection.

Botvac stuck in charging mode, not docking
Diode D5 found on Vorwerk corresponding to D14 on XV models, maybe same on Botvac.

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
Ok, great I will try this. I do have one more problem though. So for me the dirt bin pops out super easily so if it goes over a bump to fast it will come out and when I put it back in it ends the cleaning run. How can I keep it to say down without having to use tape every time I want to use it?

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
Some thin self-stick foam weatherstrip, or foam mounting tape (outside covered with some tape to cover sticky), might be put onto the side of the cavity or on the bin, to tighten fit -- or cardboard under some duct tape etc. i.e wedge it. A small strip of plastic scavenged from packaging could be screwed into the case top to make a turnable retaining tab over the top of the bin.

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
Ok, I tried that and it worked but now there is a new problem. The side of the bumper (the side without the wall sensor) keeps getting stuck so it can't continue the cleaning run because when I fix it automaticity ends the cleaning run and it does the same thing when I try to pause the run.

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
I do not have one to examine anymore, but the bumper is part of the case you need to disassemble and locate what is broken in the fittings,or need lube. Very unusual defect. The bumpers are on springs and should move freely, maybe some debris, whatever. There is a post here somewhere showing disassembly of the Botvac case, I would have to find. You might need a long shank screwdriver to reach into wells, maybe Torx, don't recall.

Re: Neato D85 not receiving power
FINAL UPDATE:
after doing some close-up inspection of the mobo. a few of the diodes look burnt out and are missing. I will go the route and order a new board and hope that fixes it.
