Not content with launching attacks in the US, iRobot Roomba competitors are now pursuing the robovac market leader overseas.
Earlier this month, a Turkish company was reported to have sold 500 iRobot Roombas within just 45 days since the company introduced the devices to the Turkish market. The company, named Korur, is the newly recognized distributor of iRobot products for Turkey and northern Cyprus.
According to Korur's managing director, Ali Tan Serbetci, the company aims to distribute the highly successful robovac to other countries in the Middle East. The warm reception from Turkish buyers came despite the absence of an office. Korur marketed the product through the Web and phone calls.
Morale in iRobot Corp. as with regards to the international market is very high after the 2009 full fiscal year results revealed a 50% contribution from the international market to its total home robot revenue. This was also marked by a 35.2% increase compared to the international home robot revenue in 2008.
However, it looks like iRobot will have to start defending the market which it practically monopolizes. And we're not talking about the US market. Samsung, which started testing its Navibot in the Italian market last year, is now considering spreading their robots across Europe after getting very encouraging results.
